A few days ago we travelled to an amazing place called Macau,

its a Portuguese colony close to Hong Kong. It was amazing,

there was a rich mix of Chinese and Portuguese culture and

I absolutely loved everything about it.

This pic was taken in one of the old Catholic churches.

It was beautiful, I just loved all the pastel colours within

the chapel and felt inspired enough to do a quick design

with a touch of bunny :)

Hows everyone's year going so far? Mine has been Hong Kong rocking!

It has however been colder than I anticipated.

Winter in Hong Kong is a heck of a lot colder than Durban's winter.

Rich and Roch clearly knew it would be an adjustment for me as they so

kindly gave me this awesome beanie for Christmas.

I am loving it and simply cannot stop wearing it, the big

fluffy bobble is the best part.

My New Years Eve

They came out pretty cool, it was an amazing night. We went out

into Hong Kong harbour on our own privately rented boat.

It was a fabulous way to enter 2012 and to top it off

we witnessed probably the best fireworks and lights display I have ever seen in my life. Loved it.

Definitely a night to remember.

Hong Kong is a shopping culture of note, shops stay open until 11pm every

night and the city is always alive with money spenders.

I have never in my life seen so many shops and malls that go up floor

after floor after floor.

This place is a shoppers

paradise. One of my buys over the last two weeks

was this pretty blazer jacket which fits like a glove!

Finally got my first roll of film developed, Was super interesting

to see how they came out.

Some of them were completely over-exposed so I left those ones

out but these 3 pics stuck out for me,

love the grainy feel as well as the colours.

Dust and I had a quite a weekend full of art, attended an exhibition and both spent some time working on some stuff. while he was painting and getting up to all his little projects I decided to do something a little more detailed and realistic. So I illustrated a snow leopard!

Bought this really pretty chiffon, collared top a while back, I fell in love with the colour and the horizontal pleats, I just had to buy it! It kind of reminds me of "Milo" yummmm.

I am not particularly a fan of gold jewelry but for some reason I really liked these little bracelets too, they make such a pretty christmas sound on my arm. I am darn happy with my pretty's. Now I just gotta keep a tight budget as Hong Kong is approaching rapidly eeeeeek!

What a weekend sho, my mom and I flew down to Cape Town to go and stay with my sister and her fiance Pete. It was wonderful catching up and planning for the wedding. We also had her kitchen tea which was lovely. We shopped and ate and chatted and laughed all weekend long. A close to perfect weekend if it were not for one thing..... no two things...

Not only could Dusty not share this experience with me (due to an overload of work and other commitments) but my stupid forgetful brain forgot to charge my camera and I could not take any pictures sob sob!

So for now I have this little table mountain illustration with a pretty sunset, I found the sunsets in Cape Town spectacular. However I did try to take some with my Black Berry but as I am sure all you other BB owners know the camera is not exactly the best. But I will try to put some together and maybe try to edit them soon because It really was such a wonderful holiday and will be a well cherished memory from now on.

I found this pic the other day, isn't it cuuuuute? It made me want a cat so bad but where I live no beings of the animal kingdom are permitted, pffffft!

I love animals to bits and it has been so hard not having a cat companion to welcome me home everyday, to sit on my lap while I watch Ellen and to warm my face up while I sleep during the cold winter nights. Yes every cat I have had, has enjoyed sleeping on my head and face. Do any of your cats do that?

Anyway I miss it and decided to post this for all the cat lovers out there!

Sunshine has to be one of my most favourite things in the world. It always comforts me when I feel overwhelmed. It slows time down to a stand still and dances all over my skin. I feel so happy when ever I soak up the sun. These pics are so peacful and warm, some of them are from a holiday we took a while back and the other was taken just outside Cara's place in Cape Town. Cara realy did a fantastic job catching the sunlight.

I really have needed jerseys this winter and now that I have collected a few, Durbs is most definitely getting warmer....pfffft! Polar Bear Alert!

I know this is not the greatest illustration but it is just a little doodle I did for fun, something to post for you all to see! I have been watching "The Blue Planet" and there is a lot of footage of polar bears. It is amazing that they can survive in such hectic conditions with not much to hunt in the icy snowy weather. And they are like pro swimmers! They can swim up to 5 miles if they need to. I would drown after 5 meters, so easy prey for a polar bear I would be. Too bad I would give anything to cuddle one of these beautiful creatures.

SPREAD THE WORD!

Ok so I have got to the point of being very frustrated mostly mingling with people online. It's time to meet some new faces as well as catch up with old ones, and when I say old I do not mean all your grannies and grandpas. So I have decided to throw a little garden party!

It will be held at the Durban Botanical Gardens on Sat the 10th of September at approximately 12:00pm. We will meet up right by the fountain in the central part of the Garden.

It is open to absolutely anyone who is looking for a good time! Obviously the more the merrier so please do bring friends along. I will be bringing some snacks and tea. But you are also welcome to bring your own personal favourite foods and drinks as I just might not have enough incase too many peeps pitch up.

I will also be bringing prints with me for those who wish to get their hands on one, but please don't feel obligated to buy this is mostly just a fun get together!

P.S. You also might want to bring a blanket to sit on for your comfort and leisure.

I received a pressie in the mail yesterday yay! I was apart of the Lucky Pony present project which has been so fun. I was paired up with this wonderful lady Idonette check out her blog D'vine Living, she is renovating her house with her hubby and documenting the whole process! So rad!

Dust and I are about to embark on an adventure to Hong Kong, which I had told Idonette all about and being the sweety she is she put a little pack of asian goods.

My film camera love affair!

After a successful day at the market on Sat Dust and I decided that we should reward ourselves somehow. So off we went to the car boot sale early sunday morning. While I scrambled for some cheap pretty clothes with my lovely friend Jess. Dust went off with her hubby Ray to find a film camera.

That he did, a beautiful one at that. He was in awe of is new find and the more he talked about it the more I realized that I too also wanted a film camera.

But after my few buys I decided not to act like an ungrateful 2 year old and went on with the day. How ever........ later on in the day, my early morning had caught up with me so I missioned off to the bedroom and as I lay my head down on the pillow a sharp metal thing jabbed my skull.

OUCH! What is on my pillow?....YAY MY VERY OWN FILM CAMERA!!

He had found one for me too! A pretty Yashica 35 ME made in Japan in 1972, it came with a manual and little case. It is a beauty and I cant wait to snap my 24 shots away, develop the film and see how my pics look.

So my sister Cara and her fiance Pete are engaged and this is there fabulous wedding invite. It is so awesome I just love its simplicity and all the hand drawn fonts, Pete has always created the best fonts. It made me so flippen happy that I just had to share with everyone.

I am so so excited for the wedding, I know I am going to blubber like an unfed seal pup on the day. There is so much to prepare but anything for my darling sister. They will tie the knot in the month of November, and it just cant get here any sooner. Yipeee I could just wee in my pants I am so happy!

btw the amazing photo was taken by Duane Smith One of Durban's best photographers. He is going to do a shoot with Dust and I tomorrow, how exciting. I am going to be so terrible and awkward at posing though ha ha ha

About 2 weeks ago I got a very sweet e-mail from a wonderful lady Georgina, she had come across my blog through a friend. After seeing some of my illustrations she had decided to ask me to do a commission artwork for her beautiful daughter Amity on her birthday (which is today).

So the photographs of Amity came flooding in and the inspiration for this illustration began. Oscar (her fluffy bunny) was in every single photograph with her and I knew he was very special to her. Georgina informed me that he means the world to her so I just had to put him in the illustration. After a few sketches I was happy with my outcome and before I knew it I was sending it off for print.

I really felt happy doing this illustration as I knew it would become a very special piece to someone and that fact is exactly what I really want my art to be about so......

My Beautiful friend Megan gave me these wonderful gifts all the way from London. She was here in S.A. a while back and somehow we didn't manage to get the gift to me until yesterday! yay for Chai Tea and awesome earrings....I need a bigger bottle for these ones hee hee

YES!!! I have been sketching and sketching till my poor little hand was in pain. It took me about 2 weeks to complete this illustration. But i have to admit I am pretty chuffed with it :)

What do you guys think??? Leave some comments as I would love to get some feedback.

I desperately needed a box for the market on sat and while rummaging and emptying one of the boxes I found this! Too cute hey, it is a little sketch Dusty did for me a week after our first date. He had invited me over to help him paint his flat while munching on some pizza and chatting all night (hence the paint roller). Sho! One week is so long.

So we took on the I heart market this past sat, it was at the beach front and sad to say we chose a grim and grotty day! fortunately for us people still came out in the not so great weather and we made a small bit of cash that will go straight into our piggy bank of savings. We will be at the next market which falls on sat the 6th August. So if you are in the area please do pop by to say helloooo.

My Goodies

Do you guys remember that song by Ciara, "My Goodies"? Well that was the song I was singing while shaking my booty in excitement after my mini shopping spree. Yes I went shopping, shopping for all these artsy things. You can find a lot of cheap and adorable stationary in town if you look hard enough. I managed to get all of this for barely R100, bargain I know.

Now I just have to get the last few things and my kits will be ready for Sat the 9th. I will be at the "I heart market" yay!

So I have finished up my other little design for another kit I want to put together. This one will be for sketching. I have been having so much fun illustrating for my little kits.

I really felt like a kid while thinking of all the awesome goodies I am going to collect for them. Therefore I Drew really "kiddy-ish" illustrations and boy it was a refreshing sketch session. I didn't really challenge myself and found that it did not even bother me if the illustrations were not perfect.

Just a little mouse I drew up! The idea behind my sewing mouse is that she is going to be printed onto stickers and stuck onto my home made, put together sewing kits! will put pics up as soon as I have collected all the goodies to put together.

Durban, did I tell you how much I loved you for not having a winter...

We were at the beach on the weekend and I was so amazed at how beautiful our winters are in Durbs. I was not even wearing a jersey. The air is so fresh and the sun is warm. I love living here in the winter......

Love the cable car rides at the beach front fair. Look at the happy dangling feet. See how a shot it in perspective to the building to show it's daunting hight at which you hang. Yes this ride is most definitely for the daring....hee hee

Notice how we are uncomfortably squinting in the wonderful Durban sun! You can see we are just loving the bright sun and soaking it all up with "ease" :)

Despite these really bad photo's it really was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed walking the promenade with my dusty.

Have not worn my elegant pocket watch from hong kong in a while I think today is the day to look charming and grandpa like! I feel so victorian and posh when I where this, even more so when I use it to check the time! Just give me a cane and top hat and I will actually believe that I am apart of another era.

Cotton Candy Sunday

Haven't had cotton candy in ages, felt like a kid again when we took our sunday walk and polished off our packet of candy floss. I suggest you get a packet when you get the chance. That taste of fluffy sweet cotton wool melting your mouth is one of the best things in the world!

Lavanya's Bear print

Lavanya Naido was the winner of my little lucky draw a few weeks back and when she selected the bear as her print choice, I had realized that I had none left...."Bad Megan" So I finally got it printed for her and it will be within her grasp soon!
